Do you love travel blogs, but want more than pretty pictures?
Do you love a good travel story?
Are you old enough to remember life without the internet?
Good news! You’ve come to the right place.
Typing Travel is about:
- inspiring you to travel more;
- helping you plan your next trip and save money;
- sharing tips and tricks for travelling solo or as a family;
- making travelling with food issues or allergies less stressful; and
- hopefully entertaining you with travel stories and anecdotes.
I like to say it’s is a travel blog for tourists.
It’s a resource for people like you and me who travel in between everyday life and day jobs.
We might only have a weekend or two weeks or a month if we’re lucky.
And we want to get the most out of every minute.
My travel story
My name is Vanessa Monaghan and I can count on one hand the number of places I travelled
to a child.
Every Christmas my family would make the 12 hour journey between our home in Canberra to
my grandparents house in rural South Australia. It was the kind of hot, crowded and
mind-numbingly boring road trip that results in great stories when you’re an adult.
Apart from that, I can remember a couple of trips to Sydney and the south coast of New South
Wales – oh, and a school excursion to the Lachlan Vintage Village in Forbes (where we were
evacuated due to a flood.)
I always wanted to see more of the world.
Every week I’d devour the travel section of the Sunday newspapers and dream about the day I
could start exploring new places and spaces.
Finally, the big day arrived. On Thanksgiving Day 1991, I flew into San Francisco the very
definition of a small town girl.
Since then I’ve worked a lot, saved hard and been lucky to visit the U.S, Canada, the U.K,
Ireland and Europe.
I’ve travelled with and without kids, food allergies and the internet.
And I write a travel blog so I can remember it all and help you create your own travel
